Homeless have right to shelter

A new B.C. Supreme Court decision out of Victoria is kind of a big deal. The Court has held that homeless people there, when shelters are full, have a right to set up shelter in parks to protect themselves from the elements.

I haven't read the decision completely, but thought I'd post it for your reading pleasure. I'll post more about it once I've given the 120 page decision a fair reading, but, man, this is a huge decision to come out on election day, and will certainly influence the upcoming provincial and municipal elections.

Congrats to all of the lawyers who did all of the work for this for free, along with their courageous clients.

You can read the decision for yourself here.
