Coleman takes a swing on CBC

Thanks to everyone who gave me the heads up earlier, just got around to listening to Rich Coleman on CBC where he takes a shot at yours truly, which makes my day.

"David Eby has never delivered a social program or a housing unit for anybody in Vancouver ever, he’s ever critical whatever government wants to do."

Zing. And almost entirely true given his government's record to date and my lack of interest in delivering social programs or joining his department.

Coleman also notes that he's (1) in the DTES about once a week, where he (2) finds that service providers tell him "It's better down there than it's ever been."

Can we get fact check on those last two statements please?

As a member of DERAs Harm Reduction Team I challenge Rich to join us on one of our Harm Reduction walks and point out the improvements in the back lanes down here.Dont want to be personal ,but since he is(I doubt that he could physically make it)As a great classical writer once said.(Rich wont have heard this!)You can judge the level of civilazation of a society by visiting its prisons.
In Rich`s BC you dont have to visit the prisons, visit the DTES back lanes.BRUTAL and BARBARIC. And I dont mean the folks that you find there.I mean the system that condones it!!Come visit with us Rich. Please bring the rest of your cabinate with you.Kindest Regards.
    Tom.

I heard Rich on the air that day.
He sounded very flustered.....which was tremendously entertaining.

Pretty big coincidence, this new law.

The true test to me was how graceful you took the criticism.

We all know that you and Rich both have a job to do and yes the times they are a changing but to be recognized for your work be it positive or negative to me is all way's a blessing. On a personal note i have problems with the both of you. In my opinion Rich Coleman needs to spend a night on the street between Hasting's and Main to Hasting's and Abbott for at least twenty four hour's to feel what it's like. Secondly to really understand your job you might need a lesson from the reality of hopelessness like when a drug addict get's tossed in jail and he has a legal aid lawyer represent him who could care less about him as a individual and even less about his case, by the way these are my personal experiences.

I'm sure as we speak you are sharpening your teeth in regards to the police arresting the homeless this winter I have a video from last winter that I took as more of a archive of the homeless on the street's in the cold, you are free to use is for reference and now that you think of it Rich might need it as well.

On another note I realize you have been extremely busy with the coming Olympics and all I hope this one didn't slip by you. I would like to know what you think about Translink installing seven video camera's that are microphoned on all the busses in the fleet seem' to be a huge invasion of privacy when someone not only can tape your physical but audible action's to such a degree on a public transit service i find this to be extreme.

    I heard that as well.

Jan Wong really had your back there :)

He's a BC Liberal. What did you expect?
